Who Are We?
The Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood Group Business Committee is a group comprised of volunteers from the neigborhood. Members are primarily neighborhood business owners and residents, however, anyone interested in maintaining the vitality of the Field Regina Northrup neighborhood is welcome to attend.
When Does the Business Committee meet?
Typically, the FRNNG Business Committee meets monthly, on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and last about 2 hours. Meetings are held in the Lake Nokomis Presbyterian Church at 1620 E. 46th Street in Minneapolis.
What does the Business Committee do?
The FRNNG Business Committee discusses the state of the neighborhood, approve/deny Paint and Fix applications and grants, discuss any neighborhood questions and concerns, and the future of the neighborhood.
What are some examples of project the Business Committee has undertaken?
• Purchased benches and planters for the 48th and Chicago area.
• Landscaping along 48th and Chicago.
• Surveys of neighborhood during National Night Out to gauge neighborhood opinion of businesses (e.g. variety and frequency of visits).
• Submission of articles for the Close to Home newsletter.
How is the Business Committee funded?
The Business Committee traditionally receives an allocated percentage of money from the city. This amount was based on neighborhood size.
What is Paint and Fix?
Paint and Fix programs allow Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood businesses to apply for matching funds to improve exteriors and interiors. Examples of projects approved in the past include; new signage, doors and windows, and landscaping.
How does the Business Committee work with Dream Team, SCABA and other neighborhood associations?
The Business Committee interacts very regularly with both the Dream Team (a group working towards a common vision of the 48th and Chicago business district) and SCABA (South Chicago Area Business Alliance). The three organizations frequently collaborate on projects or brainstorm future development.
How do I join the Business Committee?
