In Solidarity With Our Community
Official Statement from the Executive Board of the Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood Group (FRNNG)
To the Residents of the Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood,
The Executive Board of the Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood (FRNNG) issues this statement to acknowledge recent events that have generated significant concern, grief, and uncertainty for many members of our community.
FRNNG is deeply saddened by the loss of life and the fear and tension experienced across Minneapolis following recent federal law enforcement activity in our city, including the fatal shooting involving a federal agent. We recognize that these events may cause emotional distress for many residents, particularly those who may feel disproportionately targeted, unsafe, or vulnerable.
We wish to state clearly and unequivocally that immigrant community members, including our Latino, Somali, East African, Asian, neighbors, are a vital and respected part of our neighborhood and our city. They are not separate from our community; they are our community. They are families, friends, business owners, longtime residents, and valued contributors whose presence strengthens the social, economic, and cultural fabric of Minneapolis.
The Field Regina Northrop neighborhood and surrounding areas reflect the best of community life, where neighbors of many backgrounds live, work, worship, raise families, and participate in civic life side by side. FRNNG remains committed to upholding the values of equity, inclusion, safety, and belonging for all who call our neighborhood home.
The Executive Board affirms our continued commitment to:
Advocate for a neighborhood where every resident is treated with dignity and respect.
Support efforts that promote community safety, neighborhood connection, and unity.
Stand against acts and policies that contribute to the fear, harm, or dehumanization of any group of residents.
Encourage constructive civic engagement, community dialogue, and partnerships that strengthen neighborhood wellbeing.
We encourage residents to support one another and respond during this time with compassion, neighborly care, and peaceful unity. FRNNA stands in solidarity with those who are suffering and recognizes that many may be seeking immediate guidance, services, or trusted community support.
FRNNG encourages residents to remain grounded in what makes our neighborhood strong: protecting one another, remaining engaged, and ensuring that all residents feel safe and respected. We also encourage neighbors to check on one another, especially elders, families, and community members who may feel isolated or fearful during this time.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood.
Respectfully,
Executive Board
Field Regina Northrop Neighborhood Group (FRNNG)
